Sometimes Saying Nothing is Best

It was about 10:30 this morning when I was sitting at my desk and realized today was picture retake day at school.  Matthew missed the first round of pictures as he was in between schools so I was glad he’d get to participate in retake day.  Until I froze in fear at 10:30 this morning, that is.

Oh good grief, what was he wearing????

Matthew does not like to match his clothing.  It makes him feel odd.  The more colours he has on the happier he is.  For the most part, I comply.  Really, pick your battles, right?  What big difference does it make at the end of the day?  But there are times when we want him to be presentable and our idea of presentable includes matching.  Normally we can give him enough notice so that he gets the grumbling out of his system before hand and we’re good to go.  But I digress…

Oh good grief what was he wearing????

I sat there racking my brain trying to remember what he had on this morning.  I text hubby to see if he could remember and all of a sudden it hit me.  I started laughing like a fool sitting at my desk.  Rewind to this morning.

I’m bent over in the bathroom drying my hair when Matt comes in.  In a split millisecond I think to myself “Holy cow, what’s up with this?” and then the thought left me without a word leaving my lips.

He matched.

He matched!!!

Black and white striped tee, grey sweats and a grey hoodie ~ all presentable looking.  In that split millisecond when I wanted to say “You look really nice today, bud”, I decided to say nothing at all in case he went and changed.

So picture day was presentable, he was none the wiser and I was happy.

Couldn’t ask for much more than that.

Until next time.
